Who Is Darth Revan?
Revan originates in Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR, BioWare, 2003) — set roughly 4,000 years before the Skywalker Saga. He is one of the most powerful Force users in SW history: a Jedi general who defied the Council, conquered the Republic as a Sith Lord, was captured and memory-wiped, then chose to return to the light of his own free will.

The Mandalorian Wars — Jedi Defector
When the Mandalorian clans launched their crusade against the Republic, the Jedi Council refused to act, bound by a doctrine of non-intervention. Revan defied them, rallied fellow Jedi, and led the Republic to victory.
